We live in a time when our eyes can no longer be trusted. Digital tools have become so skilled at imitating reality that something polished and believable might be entirely fabricated, while something strange and unexpected can be completely real.
THE THINGS YOU THINK ARE REAL ARE AI explores how our sense of reality can be deceived.  It presents staged photographs that appear to be AI creations — a banana shaped like a pepper, a jacket standing on a pair of legs — while letting AI generate images that feel convincingly real. By flipping expectations, it makes you pause, look again, and realize: the obvious is not always true.
But this isn’t only about caution. It’s also about play. AI can be a creative playground — a way to imagine, provoke, and stretch how we see the world. These images invite both curiosity and awareness: to question what’s real, but also to enjoy the new possibilities technology makes possible.
